OUR GOALS
We aim to respond to the immediate needs of the poor people who have lost their vision due to the development of cataracts, and are unable to treat their cataract problems. Most of these people are adults up to 55 years of age. Our work will provide both psychological and physical benefits. We provide patients hope for their lives, so that they don't feel useless, lonely, or a burden for their unfortunate family. Tthe patients are able to take care of themselves as well as young children in their families. They can also work at home so that other family members can go out and work to earn some money.

Doctors, nurses and volunteers are helping patients

TREATMENT FOR CATARACT PATIENTS
We set up checkups and operations in local clinics or specialist hospitals. Normally patients have to pay from 1,200,000 dong at local clinics to 2,500,000 dong at hospitals in Ho-Chi-Minh City. In 2001, at Vinh Chau, Soc Trang (South of Vietnam), we treated each case at a cost of 750,000 dong. In 2002, we worked in Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, and Ha Tinh, among others. (for a complete list, contact Eyes of Compassion). We were able to have more volunteer assistance from clinics, hospitals and doctors and also able to reduce the transportation and meals fees for the patients. Each case is now costing
